Service of Introduction

Presbytery meets at 2:45pm on 20th January 2019 for the Service of Introduction for Reverend Andrew Gardner as Interim Minister.

St Andrew’s Day Prayer Initiative

St Andrew’s Day

30th November 2018

10.30 till 1.00

St Bryce Kirk, Kirkcaldy

Andrew was the disciple who “brought people to Jesus” – his brother Peter, the boy with loaves and fishes, and the Greeks.  In response to the Great Commission, “to make disciples everywhere”, it is fitting to launch a Prayer Initiative in our Presbytery on our Patron Saint’s Day.

Our faith is under attack from threats coming from many different directions. Numbers are dropping and the Kirk’s influence is waning. Within Presbytery, our Strategy and Resources Committee has been arranging meetings in various areas to seek ideas and inspiration and plan for the future.

Our plans and proposals to halt decline, and change direction and attitude within the Church and outside in the way we are viewed by our communities and society in general, must be founded and rooted in prayer.

The Prayer Initiative needs to start with individuals  – from committed regular attenders right through to those whose flame of faith has faded – but is not yet extinguished. We should be looking even wider to those who have yet to come to faith in Jesus.

My prayer is, that once started, folk will progress up the ladder of commitment, always moving at their own rate. The level of commitment should be chosen by the individual so that it can be maintained and then grow.

There are folk in all our congregations who can help see this come to a fruitful harvest.

In His Name and for His Glory.

Shalom,

George Luke – Prayer Co-ordinator
