Kennoway, Windygates and Balgonie: St Kenneth’s serves the villages of Kennoway, Windygates, Milton of Balgonie and Star of Markinch. We worship weekly in Windygates at 9.45a.m. and in Kennoway at 11.15a.m. On the second Sunday of each month there is a service in Star village hall at 11.15a.m. Our style of worship is relaxed and welcoming, mixing traditional and contemporary styles. We also offer worship for people with learning difficulties and this Welcome to Worship service at 7p.m. on the last Thursday of each month is very popular with everyone who takes part.
St Kenneth’s is a lively and active congregation. Among its many activities, it has run a partnership with Lusangazi in northern Malawi for about eight years, which has resulted in building various church and school buildings, providing a large community kitchen, putting in clean water supplies and offering job training. A number of exchange visits have taken place.
In Kennoway we serve a free three course meal on Wednesday evenings to those who are homeless or in temporary accommodation. We have a very active rambling group who go off every second Saturday and every second Monday in spring and summer and arrange occasional holidays. Roughly half of this group are drawn from people who are not members of St Kenneth’s. Other activities include two guilds, Messy Church, Sunday club, prayer and study groups, a prayer shawl team, a concert party, kirk lunches every Tuesday, Chatterbox (afternoon tea for older people on the last Wednesday of each month) tea dances, coffee drop in and a wide variety of fundraising and social activities. Our premises are also used by a range of community groups.
Members of our ministry team (Christine Houghton and Iona Pringle) offer pastoral care to anyone who seeks it, in the form of home and hospital visits, and bereavement care. Members of the team can arrange to conduct weddings and where appropriate baptismal services. We have very active schools links withy local primary and high schools. We publish a magazine ten times each year with about 450 copies circulated.
We are always happy to welcome anyone who wishes to come along and to offer whatever support and care we can to the local community.
